THE MOSQUITOE
HEALTH THREAT: In addition to irritating, itchy bites, mosquitoes have most recently been known for spreading the West Nile Virus. In most cases, the West Nile Virus causes flu-like symptons, but in extreme situations can infect the brain and cause encephalitis, which can then affect the entire nervous system.
PROPERTY THREAT: Minmal to none. Even though mosquitoes do not cause property damage, proper maintainence and getting rid of stagnant water around your home or business is key in warding off a mosquitoe infestation.
Mosquitoes have been pestering mankind for over 30 million years. While these pests are more commonly known for the itchy red bumps the females leave behind, they are one of North America’s most dangerous pests due to their ability to widely spread diseases such as the West Nile virus, Yellow Fever and Malaria. While there are hundreds of different species of mosquitoes, there are only a few homeowners come into contact with.
